Obituary of Patricia Hall-Jones
Patricia Eilene Hall-Jones of Molalla, Oregon, died Wednesday, October 24, 2018 in her home. She was born Patricia Eilene Hall on March 21, 1947 in Syracuse, New York. She was the only child of Adeline Mary and Victor Eugene Hall, and grew up in Watertown, New York.
Patricia (“Pat”) graduated from Watertown High School in Watertown, NY on June 23, 1964 and attended Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts, earning a Bachelor’s of Art in Religious Studies and French on June 2, 1968. She went on to earn a Master’s of Science in Education from Bank Street College of Education on June 5, 1970. She married Rand Raymond Timmerman on August 9, 1969 and raised three daughters in Adams, NY before returning to work as a domestic violence advocate with the Victim’s Assistance Center of Jefferson County, Inc. She served on the Board of Directors for the Federation of Child Abuse and Neglect and was a charter member of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Northern New York. Her work there helped to provide refuge and safe temporary housing for hundreds of battered women and children.
Rand and Pat divorced after 15 years of marriage. After several years as a single mother, she met and fell in love with William (“Bill”) Edward Jones. They were married on September 1, 1991 and the marriage was blessed with family and friends on December 28, 1991. They eventually moved out to the beautiful state of Oregon. She worked with the Oregon Department of Human Services for 15 years of dedicated advocacy work. After retiring on February 1, 2011, she continued to serve her community by volunteering as a Guardian Ad Litem (children’s advocate) in the Molalla City Courts, again speaking out for those who lacked a voice.
In her spare time, she enjoyed maintaining a fairly extensive garden, making jams and canning much of the harvest, as well as being a “master of the casserole.” Her other specialties were zucchini cookies with lemon frosting, zucchini bread, and homemade spaghetti sauce. She sewed extensively, making many colorful outfits for her children when they were young. She had an adventurous soul, loved dancing to oldies and rock music, and traveling on the back of her husband Bill’s motorcycle with the Oregon Veteran’s Motorcycle Club. During her retirement, she was known to appear as Mrs. Claus each Christmas, accompanying Bill as he appeared in parades and delivered toys to less fortunate children. Lastly, she was a tireless advocate of each of her own children and grandchildren pursuing their dreams and very proud of their successes.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Adeline Hall, and a half sister, Shirley Ann Purdy (born in 1932; died in infancy).
She is survived by her current husband of 27 years, William Edward Hall-Jones, three daughters: Briana Eileen Timmerman, Heidi Hall Timmerman (husband Daniel Mark Pelensky) and Miranda Noel Timmerman, and three step-children, David Duane Jones (wife, Leslie Jones), Valerie Ann McCann (husband William McCann) and Kenneth John Jones (wife, Jenifer Jones). She was blessed with 17 grandchildren: Morgan Aileen Timmerman- Helmuth and Charlotte Crotwell; Sophia Hall and Liam Victor Timmerman-Pelensky; Shaunnah Polley and Nathaniel, and Tessah Jones and Coltin Karr; Triston, Adrianna, Scarlett, and Roman Schlosser and Alyssa and Addison Jones; and Alexxes and Kasey Phillips and Dakota McCann.
She will be cremated and her ashes will go home with her family. There will a celebration of life on Sunday, October 28, 2018 at 2:00 pm at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church 822 Washington St. Oregon City, Oregon 97045.
